Post-Processing of PET Coated Wire
The post-processing of PET coated wire is a crucial step in ensuring stable coating performance and meeting the requirements of the final application. It typically includes multiple steps such as curing, cooling, surface treatment, winding, and packaging. The following is a detailed description:
1. Curing Treatment:
This process allows the solvents in the coating to completely evaporate, and the resin or functional components to undergo a chemical reaction, forming a stable and durable coating structure.
Hot Air Drying: A hot air circulation system ensures the coating is uniformly heated at a controlled temperature. Temperature and time must be precisely adjusted according to the coating type and thickness to avoid blistering, cracking, or decreased adhesion.
Infrared Drying: Infrared rays penetrate the coating, directly heating solvent molecules and accelerating the evaporation process. Suitable for thick coatings or high-viscosity paints, offering high drying efficiency and low energy consumption.
Ultraviolet Curing (UV Curing): Suitable for photosensitive coatings, using UV lamps to initiate the polymerization reaction. It has a short curing time, high coating hardness, and good abrasion resistance, but it is essential to ensure uniform UV light coverage of the coating surface.
2. Cooling Treatment:
This process rapidly cools the cured coating to room temperature, stabilizing the coating structure and preventing deformation or performance degradation due to thermal stress.
Natural Cooling: The coating film is cooled by air convection or contact conduction through cooling rollers or cooling ducts. Suitable for coatings with low temperature sensitivity; low cost but slower cooling rate.
Forced Cooling: Utilizes cold water rollers or a low-temperature air circulation system to rapidly reduce the coating temperature. Suitable for high-precision coatings, reducing dimensional changes caused by thermal shrinkage.
3. Surface Treatment:
Optimize coating surface properties to meet specific application requirements (e.g., optical properties, coefficient of friction, stain resistance, etc.).
Polishing: Improve coating surface smoothness and reduce light scattering through mechanical or chemical polishing.
Waxing or Protective Coating: Apply a thin layer of wax or a transparent protective film to the coating surface to enhance abrasion resistance and scratch resistance.
Antistatic Treatment: Reduce coating surface resistance and prevent static electricity from attracting dust by applying antistatic agents or introducing conductive particles.
Anti-glare Treatment: Add microparticles to the coating or create microstructures through molding processes to reduce light reflection and improve visual comfort.
4. Winding and Packaging:
Neatly wind up qualified products for easy transportation and subsequent processing.
Winding Process: Use a constant tension winding machine to ensure uniform tension of the coated film during winding, avoiding deformation caused by uneven tension. The winding speed must match the production line speed to prevent the coating from being stretched or compressed.
Slitting and Rewinding: According to customer requirements, large rolls of film are slit into smaller rolls of specified width. During rewinding, the edges must be checked for neatness, and burrs or damaged parts must be removed.
Packaging and Labeling: Use moisture-proof and dust-proof packaging materials to protect the coated film. Affix labels indicating product model, specifications, production date, batch number, and other information for easy traceability and management.
